Assessing Changes in Land Use/Land Cover and Ecological Risk to Conserve Protected Areas in Urban–Rural Contexts

چکیده
Land use/land cover (LULC) changes in response to natural factors and human activities constitute a pressing issue for the conservation of Protected Areas urban–rural landscapes. The present study investigated LULC Jajrud Area (JPA) Kavdeh Wildlife Refuge (KWR) Tehran province, Iran, between 1989 2019. To inform ecological measures JPA KWR, were identified monitored using Landsat imagery from In addition, landscape risk (ER) was evaluated by conducting pattern index analysis. Then, importance different indicators affected ER these two PAs assessed Delphi method, expert opinions solicited through questionnaire. As JPA, high-density pasture declined most over 1989–2019, 38.6% (29,241 ha) 37.7% (28,540 ha). contrast, built-up areas increased most, 10.4% (7895 11.9% (9048 Water bodies also increased, 0.88% (676 0.94% (715 cropland gardens 2.14% (1647 3.4% (2606 Built-up 0.05% (45 0.09% (75 0.69% (538 0.71% (552 Finally, decreased 29.4% (22,603 28.5% (21,955 At same time, high very classes more so compared KWR. considering both changes, method demonstrated that greatest impacts occurred JPA. متن کاملAssessing multi-decadal land-cover – land-use change in two wildlife protected areas in Tanzania using Landsat imagery
Landscape change in and around protected areas is of concern worldwide given the potential impacts of such change on biodiversity. Given such impacts, we sought to understand the extent of changes in different land-cover types at two protected areas, Tarangire and Katavi National Parks in Tanzania, over the past 27 years. Using Maximum Likelihood classification procedures we derived eight land-...
متن کاملAssessing Land Use Changes in Areas with High Risk of Human-Brown Bear Conflict in Fars Province
Assessing habitat changes is an important step in the spatial prioritization of management efforts, aimed at reducing conflicts. We assessed landuse/cover change in areas with high risk of human-bear conflict in Fars province. In the first step, we predicted the conflict hotspots, using bear damage incidents, a suit of predictors, and the Ensembles of Small Models (ESMs) approach. In the second...
متن کاملAnalysis of Land Use and Land Cover Changes, and Their Ecological Implications in Wuhan, China
This study investigated land use changes, and their ecological effects in Wuhan (1987-2005). Remote Sensing techniques extracted land use data, whilst the spatial analyst software, Fragstats quantified ecological metrics at both landscape and class levels. The results showed increased urban and agricultural land uses (1987-2005); with urban land increasing more than 250 percent. This was largel...
متن کاملProtected Areas' Impacts Upon Land Cover Within Mexico: the need to add politics and dynamics to static land-use economics
Incentives for REDD − i.e., reductions in emissions from deforestation and degradation − motivate application of static economic modeling of land use to assess heterogeneity over space in the business-as-usual baselines for land use required for forest policy evaluations. That some forested locations face higher threats is now recognized as an important factor in the evaluation and targeting of...
